Find affordable property in Northern Ireland

A Belfast-based estate agent has created a new tool to help compare properties within Northern Ireland.

Michael Chandler estate agents new tool allows you to find the average house price in each area and additionally helps estimate the yearly household income you would need to afford the property.

The new online tool allows potential buyers to assess the most affordable areas suited to their income but also helps to extend a buyers search to areas they may not have previously considered.

A breakdown:

Area

Average house value

Yearly household income

Dungiven

£55,175

£17,852

Maghera

£68,006

£19,050

Coalisland

£76,285

£19,621

Belfast

155,993

£32,847

£40,366

Hillsborough

£247,619

£50,262

Holywood

£311,449

£62,690

The tool uses the current data available on house prices to produce an average property price in regions in Northern Ireland.

The most expensive areas to date are Holywood, Bangor and Hillsborough. However, the most affordable areas appear to be Dungiven, Maghera and Coalisland.

Director Michael Chandler explains, “It’s difficult when you’re house hunting to get a feel for the market and what kind of property you can afford.”

Michael continued, “There are lots of great and affordable areas across Northern Ireland which our new property comparison tool helps to highlight. We hope it will be a game changer in showing buyers, and indeed sellers exactly where the market is hot or not. This will mean that buyers can extend their searches to areas that they had not considered, based on their salary and the average house price in that area.”
